In the RAF, he served with the 312 and then the 313 (Czechoslovak) Fighter Squadron, which he led. Jan KLÁN was one of the first Czechoslovaks who fought in France. He shot down 4 or possibly 5 airplanes, some of them in cooperation with others. In the RAF, he served with the 312 (Czechoslovak) Squadron, with which he fought at the Battle of Britain.
